Azar: All year round campaigner
Azar Iqbal has been selected to be the Alliance for Green Socialism candidate for the Gipton & Harehills ward for the May elections
Azar has a strong record of helping support the people of the area.
Azar has:
- Organized social and cultural events in Banstead Park
- Played an active role in the campaign to save the Fearnville Sports Centre
- Campaigned to make it safer for taxi drivers in East Leeds
- Lobbied his local MP over the illegal invasion of Iraq
Over the next few weeks he hopes to meet as many voters as possible and to discuss with them the policies of the Alliance for Green Socialism.
Azar is campaigning for a more environmentally friendly Leeds. He also opposes any of the cuts proposed for the hospitals in Leeds. Many people from Gipton & Harehills work at St James's Hospital and he is pledged to work with them to save services.
In previous elections hundreds have voted for Azar. At this election people know that he just does not appear on their doorstep just before May. He is the candidate who has campaigned with the people of the area all year.

He both lives and works in the ward.
